If your New Year’s Resolutions include spending more time in our National Parks, then do we have dream jobs — and two dreamy home rental listings — for you. Plus, there’s a way to enjoy your public lands for free this month.

Not only is the National Parks Service currently hiring for hundreds of open positions around the country, the NPS is also currently renting out two homes within the First State National Historic Park system in Wilmington, Delaware, according to Delaware Online.

From “hotshot firefighters” and forestry technicians, to park rangers and theater specialists, training instructors to visitor services assistants, the Park Service seems to have just about a job for every wilderness-loving American — and in every single state, with “opportunities to work in more than 400 national parks and offices from Maine to Guam, the Virgin Islands to Alaska, and any place in between”, according to their website. (If last year’s official and unofficial national parks social media is any indication, your coworkers and colleagues would be some of the absolute best people.)

If you already have a job you love but happen to live in (or want to relocate to) the Wilmington, Delaware area, the Parks Service recently acquired two homes in the Beaver Valley from the Woodlawn Trustees — and both of the historic residences along the Brandywine River are now available to rent. A smaller, 1,350-square-foot bungalow built in the 1920s sits on half an acre of park land and rents for $1,475 per month, and a larger, 3,400-square-foot Colonial chateau sitting on five acres of park land rents for $3,200 per month. Both rental properties come with certain stewardship, conservation, and sustainability requirements on the part of the tenants. (Yes, pets are allowed. No, smoking is not.)

But if you just want to get out and enjoy more of our public lands this year, every single National Park in the country will have free entrance for MLK Day on Monday January 15th, 2018.
