Naturally "Stripped" Lamp by Floris Wubben

This minimalist lamp seems unassuming at first, until you take a closer look: The entire sculpture is made from a single tree branch, stripped of its bark and artfully re-shaped into a freestanding floor lamp.

Working with a raw branch, Dutch designer Floris Wubben "peels" the bark almost entirely along its length and spirals the strips into the form of a lampshade. The base of the lamp is made by splitting and bending the same branch into three legs.

Every lamp is unique to the branch it was carved from, and can be custom ordered through Floris Wubben's website. I would love to have a local artisan who could create this with fallen branches from my own neighborhood!
