Nature Inspiration: Speakers and Docks

There is a way to embrace your inner love for Mother Nature. Maybe it's because you are tired of straight lines and drab grey colors; you want something organic to remember the true free spirit that you are and you wanted to show it to the world. Connect with the outdoors as you charge and play tunes from your devices!

The iTree is a high-end iPod, iPhone Docking Station made by KMKG Studio - The design is just a simple tree which is hollowed out with a special technique to create an extra ordinary HiFi Sound quality. For the sound engineering KMKG Studio worked togehter with the company Lenz which is one of the best Speaker Builder in Austria. The iTree will be always unique - the costumer can choose their kind of wood, the lenght and also the technique inside.

This iPhone/iPod docking station from Etsy seller Woodtec is handmade of cedar, compatible with all iphones and all ipod devices (except shuffle). The docking stations use a standard USB plug, so it can be used to charge and sync with a computer. If it is for an iPhone, it comes with an adapter to plug into the wall for charging. They also have duo docks for 2 devices and stand alone iPad docks.

iLog Wood iPod Docking Station, made from an alder branch, is 16" in length and has 2 speakers placed on each end. The iPod dock is located at the top of the log and the bottom is flat so it won't roll away when you set it on a table or shelf. All we know so far is that the iLog Wooden iPod Dock was designed by Straight Line Designs but there is no word on pricing or availability just yet!

The Enchanted Woods iPod Dock ($98) is made from authentic hickory and branches and it is a docking station only, no speakers.
It was sold at Anthropologie, a store better known for its pretty dresses than gadgets. This kind of look will be amazing on a minimalistic decor.

For the DIY out there, we have the Tree Speakers. These tree speakers, that we featured before, were handmade from +14" thick sections of what was once a towering elm tree, that have now been transformed into a completely unique piece of hi-fi art.  The speaker enclosure is made from one solid piece of elm, sectioned only at the rear of the speaker in order to hollow out enough material to create the speakers internal volume of air.
Aside from being aesthetically pleasing and unique, using actual tree rounds as speaker enclosures is beneficial to the overall speaker design because it results in an almost seam-free cabinet, thick and acoustically dead enclosure material, and non-parallel internal sides which help to reduce unwanted frequency amplification and reverberation.

Lastly, in case you were interested, we have the Wooden USB Stick. These Wooden USB Sticks from OOOMS are made to stand out from their natural environment of computers and offices. The sticks are picked from the woods and are individually selected for their natural beauty, and then professionally handmade into unique and personal Wooden USB sticks. Prices range from $39 to $55 depending on capacity.
