Name: Nemo
Location: Brooklyn, New York

We moved into this beautiful brownstone just shy of our daughter's first birthday. And while I was sad to pack away her nursery, I couldn't wait to redesign a room that was better suited for a "big" girl. I love the minimalist and modern kids' rooms that are so popular right now, but that direction didn't seem appropriate for our apartment constructed in 1890 with its original moulding, built-in dressers and hardwood floors. Instead, I went for a vintage look.

Most of the furniture in the room was bought secondhand and refinished. The armoire was mine as a young girl, but I updated it with some painting and crystal knobs. I also wanted the room to have a "handmade" feel so we collected lots of original art (some made by myself, some by friends) tossed in some hand-sewn stuffed animals, vintage quilts and a homemade tent (credit to my husband.)

It has been about six months since our little family moved in and bit by bit it is coming together and starting to feel a lot like home.
