Netflix has released the data on just how many hours people around the globe spent watching their TV and movies in 2017.

In total, Netflix subscribers watched 140 million hours per day or 1 billion hours a week. Honestly, I'm proud of us.

They also tallied up which shows we sped through, which ones we watched slowly and polled users to see which shows people watched as a family. They also found that one user watched Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl every single day (over-under on that user's name rhyming with Mohnny Mepp?).

By now the concept of bingeing a show is nothing new, but it is still interesting to see which shows people were the most inclined to power through. The shows we "devoured", which is Netflix speak for watched more than two hours a day of, were:

  1. American Vandal
  2. 3%
  3. 13 Reasons Why
  4. Anne with an E
  5. Riverdale
  6. Ingobernable
  7. Travelers
  8. The Keepers
  9. The OA
  10. The Confession Tapes

People took their time with these shows, with some obvious entries (The Crown) and a few surprises (was there just too much second-hand embarrassment in Big Mouth?)

  1. The Crown
  2. Big Mouth
  3. Neo Yokio
  4. A Series of Unfortunate Events
  5. GLOW
  6. Friends from College
  7. Ozark
  8. Atypical
  9. Dear White People
  10. Disjointed

They also tallied up the shows that people cheated on. Apparently, a significant amount of users are skipping ahead in shows like Mind Hunter and Narcos. You can see all of the end of the year stats here.
