Netherlands: Home of Marieke Wessels and Laszlo Balog

This amazing home is located outside of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Built in the midst of warehouses and industrial buildings, near a port, it embraces its location by using industrial elements throughout the house. Check out more photos after the jump...

The stairwell in the entryway is constructed out of galvanized metal scaffolding. The white fabric stretched between the poles is what boat sails are made of. The raw industrial quality of the entryway is softened by a huge yellow flower on the wall. It brings a perfect amount of color and sets a playful tone for the rest of the home. Mariake who is an art director painted it herself. When looking closer, you will notice that the flower, wooden chest of drawers and a small pink-roofed house create a nice composition.

Throughout the house there is a great mix of vintage and new furniture. The space is flooded by natural light and has a very open and fluid floor plan.

We came across this amazing space on Marie Claire Maison. Check out the website for more photos and the full story.
