I don’t think the foot of the bed is an ignored space as much as it’s a space most people don’t know what to do with. You could drop in a bench, add a couple books or pretty things on it and call it a day. Or if you’re up for something a little more out-of-the-box, you could try one of these ideas.

This bedroom, part of the Utah Parade of Homes, captured by Remodelaholic switches out the traditional bench for a pair of leather-topped tables.

If you can cope with a bit of asymmetry, there’s something really interesting (and quite cozy) about popping a chaise lounge at the foot of the bed, inspired by this bedroom spotted on Lonny.

Another bench alternative is to use a wide bookcase, like this DIY one from The Classroom Collective on the Urban Outfitters blog.

This one might be the most unusual yet: A vintage “cowboy” tub is put to use as a storage detail at the foot of the bed in Becky’s space on Buckets of Burlap.
