Sometimes you just look at a toy, in this case, right in the eye, and you know this handsome piece of craftsmanship is in for the long haul, both in terms of heirloom quality and charming personality.

After Ken Como a design engineer for the custom furniture business became a father in 2009, he decided he wanted to put his skills to work for the benefit of his son. So he began to develop a line of child-safe toys for him to play with. And in May of this year Noli Noli handmade was established.

Noli Noli toys are a line of non-toxic, paint and stain-free, wooden toys ranging from rattles, boats, robots, and race cars, made from locally sourced hardwood or salvaged from furniture businesses. The combination of layered wood, Jojoba and Beeswax finish, and inlaid eyes and bellybuttons make each toy one of a kind.

And should your Noli Noli toy ever need repair, they'll fix it for the cost of the shipping.

I'm especially taken with the sleepy-eyed mahogany boats.

Check out the goods here.
