There seems to be a schism in our fair city between those who adore an old Victorian and those who prefer modern on top of modern. We love Norman Peterson's home because he has managed to meld the two styles into something like a Modernian masterpiece.
Designer Peterson's renovation of an inherited Noe Valley Victorian offers loads of inspiration for anyone looking to combine diverging design styles. While we'd never call an inherited SF house a burden (and if it is we'll happily shoulder that load), we can see how it could be a major challenge to make someone else's preferred aesthetic work for you. We also think adding an architecturally modern addition to a old home takes guts, and it is testament to Norman's visionary design chops that the resulting house looks so spectacular. We wish there were more pictures, though!
