Design Research. Yesterday's New York Times Magazine brought attention to 2007's Vitra Edition collection and the work of Naoto Fukasawa. In Situ showcases two of Fukasawa's chairs that were designed "dissolving" into their environments. These limited-edition designs of the Vitra Edition offer designers the chance to explore experimental design without the constraints of production or the commercial marketplace, while earning money for future research and design development...

Dezeen recently posted pics of Vitra Edition 2007's unvieling in Basel (above). Later this year, Fukasawa's Chairs and the other designs of the Edition will be made available as a signed, numbered and strictly limited edition.
