Giving Old Wood a New Life: d-Bodhi Furniture

"Old Wood. New Life. No Waste"—the slogan for Singaporean furniture company d-Bodhi—had us at hello. But the barely three-year-old firm's designs are really the stuff of substance, impressing both in form and in philosophy. Learn more about its wood products, made entirely from 100 percent FSC recycled (what we commonly call "reclaimed") teak, below the jump.

In late 2007, d-Bodhi emerged from a parent company that was the first company in the Asia Pacific region to receive the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for 100 percent recycled teak wood. For the trivia-obsessed: "bodhi" is the Sanskrit word for "enlightenment" or "awakening." (The "d" derives from founder Raymond Davids' last name.) We found the LEKK bed; LUNA candle holders; OCTA stand lamp; YK bathroom collection; and TRAPESIUM dining table (shown above) particularly gorgeous.

As for the work d-Bodhi hopes to do with NGOs to spearhead initiatives that raise environmental awareness—we'll look forward to seeing what this forward-thinking company accomplishes next and, of course, we'll knock on wood!
