For this week’s One Good Thing, let’s nap!

Many years ago, a friend told me that if you take a 20-minute nap, you will wake up totally refreshed, and they said THAT was exactly what folks like Thomas Edison did. It became called the “cat nap” or “power nap.” If you slept for more or less time, your body wouldn’t respond the same way and you’d either feel unrested or really groggy (OK, five minutes more or less might not make a difference, but anything longer or shorter could really knock you out of your day and not help).

While I never got into taking naps back then, I started during Covid time since I was working at home all day, every day — and I found out that it really, really worked. Instead of having a coffee in the afternoon, I can now take a nap, get my energy back, and have a really productive afternoon.

In this episode, I show you three ways to take a nap (one even with coffee, for those who love their coffee regardless), and I show you my FAVORITE NEW TRICK FOR WAKING UP IN 20 MINUTES, which consists of crossing your legs and arms just so. Someone told me how to do this and I’d love to give them credit, but I can’t remember who it was.

So, this week, enjoy this sleeper hit of our new year!
