For this school year, my childrens' Montessori school transformed what was once a small garden area into a full-fledged outdoor classroom. Every morning at dropoff I spy on the kids out there clad in aprons hammering nails into tree stumps, making mud pies, inspecting seashells.
On a rare occasion when the popular outdoor classroom was not in use, I snapped these photos and marveled at all of the sweet details. The teachers have created a beautifully rustic and imaginative place for students to explore and commune with nature. It serves as great inspiration for me to create something similar, albeit smaller, at home.
