We've been trying to figure out what to do with a commons area between our apartment buildings that we think has a lot of potential for al fresco entertaining. An interesting idea is to treat the outdoor section as an indoor decorative space by partitioning off the narrow section using outdoor tension rods and polyester drapery...

A 30"-52" Tension Rod costs $39.95 while a longer 52"-90" version is $44.95, with the UV protective draper costing $54.95-$64.95, depending on size. We like the non-temporary option for partitioning off the space while still allowing for sun/moonlight and a breeze.
