We Just Discovered Overstock’s Hidden Section of Handmade Decor

Love handmade, one-of-a-kind artifacts from around the globe but don’t get to travel as much as you’d like? We just discovered a source for just that, and it’s totally not what you’d expect: Overstock. That’s right, Overstock has a section on their site full of home goods created by global artisans, and it’s called Worldstock Handmade.

As noted on the site, Worldstock was developed to provide local artisans with stable employment, fair wages and working conditions, and access to the global market. The program specifically supports businesses that preserve cultural identities rather than exploit them, and is committed to promoting environmental sustainability. And since appropriation is a major concern when shopping for a global aesthetic, Overstock’s more responsible approach is something we wish all big box retailers adopted.
