In March David Stark participated in the annual event, Dining by Design, created by the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. The event featured students, top professional designers and renowned chefs who create the most over the top dining environments. David Stark's Benjamin Moore sponsored installation didn't disappoint with a dream-like paint-by-numbers theme and lots of fun green décor ideas...
The Dining by Design event allows each of the designers/sponsors to create an 11' x 11' space; the only requirement is that each space must accommodate at least ten dinner guests. With Benjamin Moore as the sponsor, David Stark created a 'paint-by-numbers' environment and used the paint can as an inspiration at all scales. The installation showcases an oversize Benjamin Moore Natura paint can surrounded by a mountain landscape, with all elements of the tablescape: vases of faux daffodils, chairs, and glassware, and tableware with paint-by-number food on the chargers referencing different colors in the Natura paint line.
Don't worry if you missed the New York event, Dining by Design will be on tour nationwide for the rest of 2009; check out the DIFFA website for the full tour schedule.
