Paris' New Skyscraper Also its Latest Pyramid
The 590-foot Triangle 2 will be Paris' first new skyscraper in 40 years. Designed by Herzog and de Meuron, the pyramidal shape caused a bit of controversy in the famously traditional (architecturally speacking, anyway) city.
The plans for Triangle 2, which were initially approved in 2008, then rejected by local authorities in November 2014, but Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo deemed that vote invalid and the project continues.
The building will be a mix of office space and co-working space, and contain a hotel, restaurant, and community services including a daycare.
