Party Idea: Host a Holiday Decor Swap

Party Idea: Host a Holiday Decor Swap

There aren't many folks who can avoid buying something for the home each year during the holidays. A little snow flake garland here, a few pine boughs and some twinkle lights there — for many it's the favorite time of the year to buy and decorate! Try swapping out some old decor for a friend's to save some cash and a trip to the store!

The amount of holiday decor one attic, basement or closet can hold seems to astound us each year. It seems that the ornaments, candles, tableware and more just keeps coming! As our styles change, it's quite easy for our decor to change as well.

It seems a shame to donate it when close friends and family could put it to use. Instead of lugging it to the thrift store, just send out invites to your first annual holiday decor swap! Have milk and cookies waiting for everyone and swap around with other awesome items from their home. If you want to try for some extra fun, buy a few white elephant decor gifts and see who fights over the ugliest reindeer or the prettiest shiny star!

In relation, you can also pack a holiday 101 box for those friends and family members who might be on their own for the first time and don't have the cash to purchase decorations for their space. A little holiday cheer is good for everyone, even if it started off it's life in someone else's home!
