While we were researching native trees to Pasadena, we came upon an interesting concept sponsored by Pasadena's Beautiful Foundation. Called the "Plant Bank," this nursery employs the same philosophy behind the take-a-penny / leave-a-penny tray...
If you're re-designing your garden and have a few plants or pots that aren't fitting in per se, the Plant Bank welcomes any and all donations 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The only guideline is to leave living plants on the benches with the roots covered and moistened either in a pot or a black plastic bag.
Or if you're in need of some plants, stop by the Plant Bank first and see what they have--all the plants and pots are absolutely free.
The Pasadena Plant Bank is located at the Jackie Robinson Senior Center located at 1020 N. Fair Oaks Blvd.
