Living in a small space often means utilizing storage opportunities anywhere opportunity permits, including overhead...especially when it comes to a utilitarian space like the home office. Here's a creative reuse of a consignment shop find, marrying storage with a perfect spot to place a desk...
Working from home I had to have a home office, but also needed a guest room. Living in a small space, we needed creative storage solutions. We discovered this metal grey office cubby/coat rack at a consignment shop and knew we had a winner.
When we brought it home, we took out the coat rack, and then cut down a wood desk to fit in the space perfectly. The cubbies on the left are empty, so they are perfect for guest's accoutrements, and the cubbies on the right store all my home office needs. The couch folds out to a full sized bed and is actually pretty comfy. After finishing the room I realized it was all shades of grey, so we spray painted the filing cabinet lime green. I think it added the punch of color this room was missing!
