Pedal-Powered Christmas Tree in Copenhagen

We guess when you’re the host city for the international climate change negotiations, you need to up the ante a little bit. How about powering your city’s Christmas tree in City Hall Square with 15 people on bicycles? That’ll work.

Those 15 bicycles provide enough energy to light up the 700 LED bulbs on the tree. The 17-meter-high tree went up on Sunday during an opening ceremony in which children, the mayor, and international VIPs joined in the pedaling.

That’s one way to get your exercise and support your community!
