Philips Fidelio Headphones

Even before you put the Fidelio onto your head, it's evident these semi-open back headphones are a cut above the competition in its price category: super soft memory foam swivel ear pads, lightweight aluminum arms and metal hardware, and a fabric line cable designed to avoid tangles. Philips did not cut corners. Then you put them on and realize the balance of construction is matched by the quality of the natural soundstage these headphones can put out...

The Fidelio L1's are not sound canceling models, but that's fine, as the Fidelio reduces ambient sounds sufficiently enough, while permitting just enough sounds from outside to be heard when the music is set up to mid-volume or lower, perfect for a desk jockey like myself who doesn't want to miss message notifications or even my girlfriend calling me for supper while donning headphones. Whether it was classical music, electronic, rock, and even some 90's hip-hop, the Fidelio's always put out a balanced and confident sound (and more importantly, never caused uncomfortably DJ Sweaty Ears syndrome). Comfortable for hours and equipped with an iPhone remote/mic for phone call use, the Fidelio are highly recommended as 9-to-5 headphones for both work and play, whether at or away from the desk.
