My co-worker Hiro just got back from an awesome holiday in Amsterdam, and he graciously shares this photo of his hotel room at Chic & Basic. "The floors are hardwood stained in green, and the headboard was backlit with fluorescent lights..."
Looking closely at it, this looks like it could fairly easy to replicate--and not just for headboard either! One of the first apartments I ever rented in LA had three long, ugly fluorescent light fixtures that were mounted on the wall (as opposed to the ceiling, not sure why). One way to camouflage them could have been to print three black and white photographs on canvas and stretch them in frames to hang over the light fixtures, creating a futuristic art gallery on the cheap.
