Pieced Together Patchwork Rug

Over the last several months, we've been on an a rug hunt. We've had an eye out for something big (think 9x12 big!), but anything even partially economical was found on Craigslist or personal sales and has some sort of serious stain. So when we ran across this idea for a patchwork rug, we not only loved the idea, we love piecing the past back together to serve the present.

We ran across this great rug over at Remodelista. They were highlighting the stools in the photo and although they're great, we've really had our peepers peeled for rugs on any site or magazine we check out.

When you search through your local Craigslist, there's all sorts of older rugs with tons of life left in them, but there's only so many stains you can hide under your sofa or end tables. Why not cut them up into usable squares instead? Now all you'll need is a friend with a serger, or some patience and several rolls of carpet tape and you'll be in business!

What do you think? Do you like the patchwork appeal? Or would you rather keep hunting or save your pennies for something that looks a little more polished and put together, or at least made out of all one piece!
