It's finally happening: after lots of talk about Pinterest diving into e-commerce, the buy button is becoming a reality. Buyable Pins launch on iOS this month, and on Android and desktop later this year.
At launch, an estimated 2 million pins will be buyable; a blue price tag below a pin will mean users can purchase the item directly via Pinterest. You'll also be able to scroll through different views of a product, choose a color, and checkout using a credit card or Apple Pay.
According to a survey the company conducted earlier this year, about 52% of active Pinterest users surveyed agreed the site helped them find items they wanted to buy. 30% of the 1,500 respondents said they had purchased an item online, and 32% said they bought an item in a store after seeing it on Pinterest.
