Almost every day in spring could come with a reminder of some seasonal flower that we should enjoy while we can. Right now I have cherry blossoms in mind, and now is the perfect time to get them at the market or enjoy outside.
This week I passed by a place full of these same blossoms that are gracing the Met's Great Hall (above)...
The Central Park Reservoir, right above 84th Street, has the most incredible blossoms on the Kwanzan cherry trees that border it on the east and west sides. Although any cherry tree in bloom is beautiful, these are especially enjoyable because of their deep color and very full, fluffy blossoms - they have an enormous impact. I only wish that I had my camera when I passed by.
Thanks to these branches inside, I remembered to steal away and take in the ones at the Reservoir. If you find yourself on 5th Avenue or Central Park West, it is worth a 20 minute detour to go enjoy the lush blossoms and the view across the water.
