Design services naturally blossomed into a retail business from the soulful need to incorporate personal items and conversation starters into her clients homes, said founder Tiffany Thompson. The debut collection consist of eight vinyl-wrapped throw pillows inspired by her grandmother’s living room.

Named after a small town in France and the closest print to her Grandmother’s actual sofa, the Lyon pillow is a navy, dual-sided jacquard fabric that unveils a contrasting color as you unzip. At first glance, Lyon appears to be a handful, “but that’s exactly what my grandmother was. Strong and beautiful,” said Thompson. The full collection is comprised of traditional and contemporary prints and fabrics like waxed canvas and denim, and other mixed-print styles.

#astoryfromgrandma is a hashtag started by Thompson with hopes of bridging together a community of grandchildren who share memories of their Nannas and the French boudoir sofa that was only used on holidays. I created the hashtag with the intent of sharing stories and photos of other people’s grandmothers and the sacrifices they made,” she shared with Apartment Therapy. “People have already reached out with stories of their grandmothers surviving the holocaust or migrating to America. It’s pretty remarkable and inspiring to have that element of family that connects us all.”

The concept of family doesn’t end with the vinyl-wrapped pillow collection; Duett Interiors will continue to release capsules inspired by members of the family in hopes of sewing family legacy into our everyday lives in subtle but striking ways.
