When I was little, I announced to my mother that when I grew up I would move into the playhouse in our backyard. Nowadays, my tastes in dwellings have matured somewhat — for example, I prefer homes with insulation, electricity, and running water — but the appeal of a tiny house is still there for me.

While I realize that some intrepid people actually do live in these houses full-time, I don't think I have the stamina — or patience — for that. Instead, if I had a backyard, I'd totally get a little house and make it an office/ guest room/ whatever!

Check out these 5 sources for tiny homes:

1. Sustain Design Gallery
2. Reclaimed Space
3. Cusato Cottages
4. KitHAUS
5. Tumbleweed Tiny House Company

Would you ever live in a tiny house or would you like to have one as an extra room?
