Plush Placemats To Teach Proper Placement

When it comes to teach your children to be self sufficient, not everything has to be a full out lesson. These plush placemats are a great way to encourage good table setting practices without making big deal about it.

These adorable appliquéd placements were found over at Sweetest Littles (where we also ran across this great collapsible playhouse!) and we think they're a great idea.

If you're not big on sewing, you can even hit your favorite placemat retailer (we have a soft spot for World Market) and then the craft store for a few scraps of fabric from the dollar bin. Using fusible webbing, just iron on cut out tableware shapes and you're all set! If you want to give it a hand sewn look, go back in with chunky embroidery thread and make simple stitches.

Either way it will help settle the age old battle of which side the knife and fork go on! Do you have "helping placemats?" Do your kids love them? Let us know below!
