These Are The Most Instagrammed Interior Design Styles In Each State
Instagram is a one-stop shop for all your home design inspiration. You can easily hop from style to style, designer to designer, and trend to trend, simply by tapping a hashtag. Angie’s List wanted to see what was the most popular design style in each state, and by using those much-loved hashtags, they were able to surmise that North Americans definitely have a thing for “coastal living.”
According to a new report from the home care hub, a team of researchers culled through “location data from Instagram posts tagged with hashtags relating to popular interior design styles.” They organized the data collected to show what design style tag reigns supreme in each state. And overall, Americans seemingly love coastal decor.
The Angie’s List researchers found that eighteen states use #CoastalLiving more than any other hashtag to describe their interior decor. And unsurprisingly, most of these states are on the coast—more specifically, the East Coast. As of right now, there are currently over 1.4 million posts that are tagged #CoastalLiving.
But decor Instagrammers, mostly in Washington and California, also love to tag their posts #MidCenturyModern, which is the second most-popular interior decor style tagged within the United States.
Those located in mountain states and parts of the Northeast also love to hashtag their nature-inspired, earthy, and farmhouse-chic home decor pics with #RusticDecor.
Other popular tags include #TraditionalHome, #BohoDecor (used most in North Dakota), #ModernHome, and #CottageStyle (which is only the most-popular tag in Vermont—Vermonters love their cottages!).
