We all know lead exposure is unhealthy, but who knew that it actually increased the rate of violence in children that have been exposed to it? Apparently, two studies found that a child's exposure to lead "increases the likelihood of being arrested for violent crime."
One report by Jessica Wolpaw Reyes actually suggests that the leaded gasoline that was phased out in the 1970's could actually account for lower crime between 1992-2002.
The new studies prove that there is a biological basis rather than just environmental factors for the behavioral problems associated with lead.
