Getting to look inside people’s homes will forever be fascinating. Even if they live in a tiny apartment, it’s always cool to see how they’ve made the most of the space and even get some inspo for styling your own. Finding the right furniture and decor can prove challenging when dealing with limited square footage, but luckily, we’re always here to help. One of our favorite destinations for living room seating, specifically, is Pottery Barn. In the past, we’ve visited their NYC store for our Personal Shopper series to help you find the perfect bed frame, rug, or sofa for your apartment. Today, we’re narrowing down the editor-tested sofa picks to the models most suitable for small spaces. There’s still plenty of variety among all eight sofas, whether you’re looking for something traditional, multifunctional, or upholstered in leather. Most importantly, each sofa on our list will only enhance your living room and prove timeless in the long run.

Of the 17 sofas we viewed in person, the Carmel sofa was the one we deemed the very best for small spaces. It comes in six widths, including 62-inch and 74-inch loveseat styles that could still serve as couches. Even if you select the narrowest option, you still get deep seats for reclining and medium-soft cushions for both comfort and support. This couch also looks incredibly clean and modern.

If you're looking for something traditional, the Chesterfield is about as grand as it gets. It, too, comes in two loveseat sizes that would both still work as your main living room seating. What's also cool about this particular Chesterfield is that it's upholstered in fabric for a fun spin on a leather classic. Plus, you can choose between two depths.

One of the best ways to make your space look warmer is by adding a leather couch. For that, we recommend the Pacifica. The 69-inch width will easily squeeze between a side table and a doorway. We also deemed this model the best for working from home, as its medium-firm seat cushions and upright silhouette encourage you to sit alertly and pull up a side table for your laptop.

The Carlisle sofa is one of Pottery Barn's most customizable models. Available in three widths, an array of colors and fabrics, and your choice of cushion style and fill, it truly allows you to make your living space unique. We also admire its S-curved base and intricate feet, as well as the fact that it comes in a width of 72.5-inch.

Deep seats are popular, and for good reason. The York definitely delivers in that department, though you can snag it in a 60-inch or 72-inch width for your studio. Although the sofa's cushions are wrapped in a down blend for extra softness, steel springs prevent sagging. What's more, its slipcover is removable for fuss-free cleaning.

Once you introduce the Buchanan twin sleeper into your living space or guest room, don't be surprised to find yourself voluntarily snuggling atop its ultra-comfy cushions or foam mattress. You won't experience exposed springs, squeaky sounds, or a detached mattress with this quality pull-out bed. After testing it, ourselves, we can attest that the Buchanan is a sleeper armchair that takes up little space, is easy to pull out, and is genuinely comfortable.

We named the Jake sofa Pottery Barn's best statement-making couch, and it's easy to see why. The sofa's contrasting wooden frame only makes it all the more striking. You'll find that the firmness differs a bit between the back and seat cushions, but both provide plenty of comfort and support. Best of all, the Jake is available in an apartment sofa and loveseat sizes!
