Sure, there’s something exciting about purchasing a brand new piece of furniture – it’s dust-free, scratch-free, (sticker-free if you’re parent to a toddler) and demands the spotlight of attention when you walk in the room. But what if I told you that you could have the same feelings about a previously purchased piece picked up from the local consignment store? Kristine Franklin from The Painted Hive has a knack for re-purposing furniture that has seen better days, furniture that ultimately just needs a little extra love (and elbow grease) to get it back in the spotlight.

I’m here to show you her latest re-purposed, emphasis on purpose, piece: a drop dead gorgeous dresser makeover that’ll make you rethink hitting “purchase” on all those pricey items in your West Elm shopping cart. And to top it off, her custom piece will be auctioned off over in Australia in support of Salvos Stores (part of The Salvation Army). What more could you ask for?
