One Colorado woman is learning the hard way about falling for a home renovation scam. After posting on her Facebook page that she wanted the Property Brothers to come and renovate her home, Lisa Hartman was contacted by someone via Facebook Messenger who claimed to work Drew and Jonathan Scott on the hit HGTV show. And while Hartman and her husband were delighted at the idea of a home renovation, it started to become clear that there were a few red flags popping up along the way.

Not only was their name wrong, but the couple was repeatedly asked to provide money up front without any more information.

"Now, I feel so disappointed. I feel almost betrayed," Hartman told ABC 13. "I think this is something that really needs to be out there," Lisa said. "I think people need to know that this is a scam."

There are several scams going around that involve using the Property Brothers as a front for finagling money out of eager HGTV fans. The issue is so prevalent that the Property Brothers themselves have jumped in to make it clear that nobody should listen to the scheme. On his Facebook page, Jonathan Scott posted a photo of a suspicious letter sent to fans.

"Through the use of the newest technology, coupled with several years of experience in the construction business, we are assuring you of excellent workmanship from start to completion of the project," the fake letter read.

Luckily, Scott made it clear that under no circumstance would he, his brother, or anyone from the show reach out asking for money.

"Drew Scott and I have become aware that there are more scams circulating out there," Jonathan Scott wrote on Facebook. "Remember that we will never contact you from an unverified account or an unverified email address! Watch for the blue checkmark and watch out for each other. If you see a scam out there please report it to the appropriate parties. As always, we thank you for your continued support."
