This Unexpected (and Durable!) Material is Replacing Rattan in This Summer Collection

Marni may be best known for their bold printed dresses, expertly tailored menswear, and structured, yet colorful, handbags. However, the brains behind the Italian fashion house also have a keen sense of what’s stylish when it comes to home decor.

Marni just launched their annual collection of home pieces via Marni Market, and they’ve put a unique spin on classic throw pillows, trays, and other home accessories that you won’t see anywhere else.

Though linens, cottons, rattans, and hemps are commonplace in spring and summer home and fashion lines, Marni decided to go a different route this year. The fashion house swapped out rattan for PVC, bamboo for metal, and glass for resin.

This tray, for example, is crafted from iron and woven PVC.

And these woven throw pillows are actually made with vinyl-coated cotton fibers, and vinyl PVC cylinders.

Even the woven placemats are made from an iron frame and PVC material, despite having the appearance of woven rattan.

Because everything is made in durable plastics and metals, these pieces, each handmade by Colombian artisans, are great for your outdoor living space and will last for summer seasons to come.

The Market collection also includes several accessories like handmade metal and woven PVC handbags, market bags, and keychains. And each piece is more affordable than you’d expect, considering the designer label.
