Buy or DIY PVC Pipe Speakers

If you're looking for distinctive-looking speakers, you shouldn't look any further than these ones. They were handmade by an audiophile and are available on Etsy for purchase. However, you could also try and make your own PVC pipe speakers.

Just like the IKEA salad bowl speakers we recently featured, these lovely PVC speakers look amazing. They are available from Ikymagoo's Etsy store for $200. These speakers are non-powered, so they need an extra amplifier to make them work.

However, you could probably try your own hand at making something like this. Although we don't recommend making your own speaker from scratch, you can graft the guts of an existing speaker into some PVC pipes to see what you'll get. This hack kind of works like the IKEA salad bowl speakers.

You'll need to tear down a pair of existing speakers and graft them into a new speaker body that you'll construct out of PVC piping. Ideally, the speaker head should fit snuggly into the opening of the pipe, so that everything will fit neatly, without too much of a hassle. If you've worked with speakers before, this is definitely an interesting idea, which will cost you a lot less than $200. Granted, they aren't completely handmade, but they'll look pretty good.

Still, for handmade speakers, the ones from Ikymagoo aren't that expensive. He's got a bunch of different models available in a few colors. He'll even build you a custom set if that's what you really want. All in all, it's an interesting idea.
