Here’s What Twitter Has to Say About ‘Queer Eye: We’re in Japan!’
Queer Eye’s new mini season, called Queer Eye: We’re in Japan!, dropped on Netflix this Friday, November 1. At just four episodes, it’s very bingeable, and many people (us included) have already finished it.
The season takes place in Tokyo, where the Fab Five are guided around the city by Japanese model Kiko Mizuhara. The heroes they help this time include Yoko, a hospice nurse, and Kan, a twenty-something gay man trying to find a way to express himelf while caught between racism in the international LGBT+ community and homophobia in Japan.
There’s risk inherent in taking an American reality TV show, especially one like Queer Eye that essentially does life-makeovers, and exporting it to another country, where its advice could come off as patronizing or imperialistic. But so far, the Twitter response to Queer Eye: We’re in Japan! is mostly positive — apart from a roast of Antoni’s cooking lessons (which he earned in the mac’n’cheese incident of Season One):
Still, Antoni makes a pretty sweet date to Yoko (Spoiler: They even sing a song together about their date):
It’s impossible not to love and root for Kan, Yoko, and the season’s other stars, Kae and Makoto:
Even skeptics have fallen for the heartwarming stories:
People are also impressed by the shout-out the show gave its interpreter, Lena-Grace Suda:
Some viewers have expressed concern that the heroes, all of whom are dealing with emotional trauma, need access to therapy:

If you haven’t binged the show yet, it’ll only take four hours, and it’s almost guaranteed to give you a good cry.
