Product: Rain Design iRest Lap Stand
People who love their iPads spend hours and hours holding it in front of them. It can be a pain in the neck and also tiring on the hands. We went on a search for an iPad stand that is minimal in design yet effective and decided to give Rain Design's iRest lap stand a try.
We were looking for an iPad stand that didn't take up a lot of space but was still sturdy enough to hold the device securely. As much as we love Belkin's Cushtop for our notebooks, we wanted something lighter for an iPad stand because the intent of the iPad is portability.
The iRest works as both a lap stand and a desktop easel. It came with two different pieces to assemble. The main part of the iRest is a silver and black aluminum easel and foam padding that you screw onto the plastic base. No tools are required, so the setup is extremely fast and easy.
Although the design is minimal, the iRest packs a lot of function. It holds an iPad securely either horizontally or vertically, and the rubber bottom has a Dock Connector cable and speaker pass-throughs. Watching video or content is a great experience on the iRest because the stand doesn't hinder the speaker quality.
The plastic rear arm can be adjusted so you can prop the iRest at the best angle for sitting, laying down or placing it on a desktop. Because the iRest elevates your iPad pretty high, we found that it was a better accessory for watching movies and video content rather than using it as a stand to do computing type tasks. For iPad users who are constantly watching things on their iPad, the iRest is definitely a great accessory, which eases strain on your hands and neck.
