Raji Radhakrishnan's Le Bureau Privé

The 2012 Kips Bay Decorator Show House runs just a few more days before closing on June 14th. This year was made all the more special by the debut of a personal favorite, DC local Raji Radhakrishnan. The private office boasts all the delights of Raji's signature sophisticated mix.

I tend to appreciate rooms more when they are tied to a personality, even a fictitious one like the the Met's Head Curator, who Raji dreamed up when designing the private home office, or Le Bureau Privé.

White Venetian plaster walls and furniture chosen from the Secessionist, Art Deco and Modernist periods, as well as more modern pieces, complement the contemporary architecture of the room. However, classical elements like the custom photo murals (another Raji signature) of the King's Chapel in Versailles and a painting by Pierre-Paul Prud'hon add warmth and depth, as well as what Raji describes as a "bonafide counterpoint to the rest of the elements in the room."

For more information about Raji and her room, check out the Kips Bay Show House website.
