ReadyMade has been around since 2001 but kept close to its West Coast origins. Last night's party made it clear that they are ready to be heard loud and clear across the country, and in New York in particular.
Their debut party took place at DWR. This unusual merge of DWR and a magazine renowned for its DIY-ness was made less awkward by two huge hands-on work stations right in the middle of the studio. One welcomed guests to design and create their own customized tote bags and the second guided party goers to make their own simple but sophisticated George Nelson-like wall clocks.
The room was full of people who looked like they were comfortable with the custom DIY route or at least open to its possibility. Hints of other potential projects around the room, yummy snacks, cool music and an open bar made for a very interactive and fun atmosphere.
