Empty tissue boxes: Can't live with them, but can't figure out anything to do with them once they're empty (other than just tossing them). Luckily, we discovered an awesome reason to save your used tissue boxes from the recycling bin, and upcycle them into something more purposeful for your home.
What it is:
Use your empty tissue boxes to collect dryer lint, folks. Dryer lint! You know, that unsightly stuff you peel off the filter before you do a load of laundry? Instead of simply throwing the lint away, employ a used tissue box near your laundry machine to stash your lint wads and once it's full, toss the whole thing in the trash or compost (lint is compostable!), or reuse the box.
Why it works:
This foolproof hack works well because it's insanely easy but super effective. It keeps your lint contained (while holding a lot of lint) and allows you to dispose of it all in one fell swoop.
Opt for tissue boxes with plastic over the hole if you prefer to keep your lint covered. Or you can put some plastic wrap over the top and cut a slit in it for the same results.
Even better, you can save your lint stash and use them for DIY fire starters for your fireplace or wood-burning stove. Just stick some used lint inside a toilet paper or paper towel roll and voila: It's lit, literally!
And the best part is that this savvy upcycle is completely free of charge (assuming you've already used up the tissues inside). Which means you can streamline your laundry room—and start a fire if you're up for it—in seconds; for virtually next to nothing.
