Like the rest of us trying to get into the fall spirit, Reese Witherspoon started simply by decking out her front stoop with the classic autumn collection—a bunch of pumpkins, a couple of potted mums, and a dried cornstalk. But somehow, some way, Witherspoon’s front porch decor looks utterly top-notch, and it’s only improved by the fact that she, herself, looks like a fall queen in the pic.

“Fall Porch decorating!” Witherspoon captioned her October 3 Instagram post. “This is my attempt at @southernlivingmag Fall Porch edition.”

Southern Living, you seeing this? You might want to hire Witherspoon to stage an upcoming fall photoshoot. Just a suggestion.

The pumpkin-colored cardigan and black-and-white flannel definitely adds to Witherspoon’s overall autumnal aesthetic. But, her choice of pumpkins may be what’s taking this stoop staging endeavor to the next level.

Witherspoon compiled a fun collection of funky pumpkins from tiny Jack-Be-Littles, which change in color the more they ripen, to those wider, flatter Rouge Vif D’Etampes, which make up the bottom of the stack. Getting creative with color, as Witherspoon did, is also a great way to add interest and variety to your fall stoop setup.

And picking out a couple of lush mums to act as a backdrop to your pop-of-color pumpkins will not only fill out your porch space but make everything look a bit brighter and bolder.

Witherspoon is putting some much-appreciated inspiration on everyone’s Instagram feeds with her fall-inspired porch redesign. If you want to beat her in that non-existent competition, you’ll have to match your sweater to your pumpkins.
