Retired Cop Builds Crime Fighting Bird Feeder

There's a theory that people will obey laws only if they think they're being monitored -- hence many cities big brother monitoring systems. But some of the best big brother schemes are when big brother isn't really watching you, as is the case with this bird feeder made to look like a speed gun box.

The Daily Mail reports that retired police officer Bill Angus mounted a bright yellow box, made to look like speed monitoring box, in his front yard, and ever since, the number of drivers zipping through the 30 mph zone at 60 has dropped.

Angus told the paper that he never meant to create a traffic aide, but rather designed it this way so as to keep people from stealing the bird feeder and bird house within. The bright yellow color is supposed to attract blue tits and finches and the lamp on the front, which looks like a camera flash, is actually just material he used to plug a hole he "accidentally" made when building the box. Official looking code on the side of the box that reads KUS KUTU, is said to mean bird box in Turkish.

Reminds us of Peter's stealth security cam in a fake owl and birdhouse.
