Mini Guide: Retro Style Outdoor Furniture

Though we're hardly the first or only city to incorporate such stylish outdoor seating options, there's something iconic about the retro style chairs and rockers that you see all over Austin, both on restaurant patios and home porches.

Good-looking, sturdy and perfect for lounging in on a hot summer night, we are in love with the look of these types of outdoor seating options. The folks at Torrans Manufacturing Company, stationed in Jefferson, Texas, have been making furniture for a long time, and it should come as no surprise that these 1950's style painted metal lawn chairs are a huge hit both in Texas and all over the country.

We confess that before stumbling across Torrans' website, we never noticed all the different styles available. You can go for a Bellaire style, which is the most common with a rounded back, the Thunderbird Style that has a more squared back, the Parklane with its sea shell-shaped back and more. All are available in a multitude of colors to both contrast or complement with any of your home's exterior colors.

We even adore these other retro options for an outdoor space, like this drink cooler and picnic cooler. They'd make perfect companions alongside these metal retro chairs (both in style and in function).

In Austin and want to take a few of these home? Try The Great Outdoors. In Los Angeles and want to channel some retro metal lawn chair cool? Pot-ted has what you need.
