Revenge of the '70s Bath Stickers - How To Remove Them?

Q: I've just moved into a great rental, which is fabulous in every way, except for the bathroom. I could embrace the tub's "retro" mustard tone if only I could scrub it clean! A tenant from yesteryear put down those '70s non-slip tub stickers...

You can see them in the shape of a butterflies, flowers, and a long strip along the tub's edge and even though there is no residue left from the stickers, I simply cannot scrub the tub clean enough to remove the outlines. I have tried coating the whole tub in Goo Gone, as one online forum suggested. I've used abrasive scrubs and old fashioned elbow grease, but nothing seems to be working. Seeing as replacing the tub just isn't an option, I need a solution to get this tub looking clean. After moving, I could really use a soak in the bath, but I don't think I'm quite ready to take the plunge in this mustard memory lane. Help!
