Rich, Brilliant & Willing Win ICFF New Designer Award

Congrats to Theo Richardson, Charles Brill and Alexander Williams of Rich, Brilliant & Willing — they're the official Best New Designer of ICFF 2011! The award can be a designer's big break — past winners have included people like Ronan Bouroullec, Barber & Osgerby, and Jeffrey Bernett. While RB&W have already received a lot of press and attention over the past year, the award brightens the spotlight on the Manhattan trio.

RB&W debuted a new collection of lighting in their ICFF booth. Composed of three lines — Delta, Quart, and Channel — the 2011 collection uses familiar, locally sourced materials in unexpected ways. The "Channel" floor and table lamps, for instance, are made with wood from a New York broom-handle supplier and an aluminum channel frame. While these are basic raw materials you might see at a hardware store, the designers have combined them in unique and original configurations.

Jurors included Arlene Hirst, Anniina Koivu of Abitare, Elizabeth Pagliacolo of Azure, Sam Grawe of Dwell, Annie Block of Interior Design, Nadia Lionello of Interni, Bénédicte Duhalde of Intramuros, and Paul J. Makovsky of Metropolis. Other awards categories and winners included...
