Rideshares: Safe or Sorry?

Rideshares: Safe or Sorry?

As Travel and Local Living Month comes to a close here at Re-Nest, we want to know how you feel about that sometimes suspect mode transport: the Rideshare.

Sites like Kijiji and Craigslist are full of rideshare ads, and for anyone who has ever traveled this way you have probably been in varied situations of varied comfort. I'll never forget the story of a good friend and her man catching an overnight ride from Montreal to Toronto with a complete nutbar. The driver coffee-breaked at every other rest stop and at one point pulled over on the side of the highway to take photos of the aurora borealis (a somewhat forgivable, though dangerous maneuver). An hour before arriving at the destination he detoured to his own home, showered for 15 minutes and returned presenting what he assumed the ride had required all along: a techno remix of Bryan Adam's Heaven—which was played on repeat for the duration of the trip.

So, while it is a green and affordable way to get from point A to B, would you risk the rideshare?

What are your stories?
