You can expect a bit of humor when talking about Robert Downey Jr. The Iron Man star recently gave Architectural Digest a thoroughly entertaining tour of his and wife producer Susan Downey's house in the Hamptons, which is whimsically shaped like a windmill (it started life as a playhouse and was then expanded).
The whimsy doesn't end outside—though we do get a peek at the couple's "first decor" item, a spinning-arm zombie lawn decoration that appears to have a year-round stay. Right off the hexagonal foyer that comprises the windmill, designer Joe Nahem sunk the living room seating and "anchored it with a massive wraparound fireplace wall by ceramic artist Peter Lane."
"Part of the joy of working with Joe is sharing his excitement about reaching out to these incredibly talented artisans," Robert tells AD. "These kinds of collaborations require a leap of faith, but that's part of the fun. We enjoy the experimentation."
In the video tour, Robert gives the viewers a look inside a random "why is this stuff in here?" closet, the spot where he likes to nap, and their daughter Avery's "Good & Plenty"-esque polka dot tiled bathroom.
The couple have a lot of art, and one wall has a bunch of pop art-inspired works. Thor fans might even recognize one of them from a recent Chris Hemsworth Instagram photo:
We even get a quick pan to the mess in one room, which is a result of the family packing up to leave at the end of the season. Stars, they're just like us.
