Rock Hudson’s Former Hollywood Hills Home Is Listed for $3.75 Million
The Hollywood Hills home where actor Rock Hudson lived in the late 1970s was listed for sale earlier this month for $3.75 million. Perched behind the Sunset Strip, it has a view of the downtown Los Angeles skyline and beyond, all the way to Century City on a clear day.
The house, built in 1937, sits on a third of an acre, behind security gates. The property includes the two-story main house, a detached guest house, a swimming pool, and a two-car garage.
“Vaulted ceilings, classic fixtures and a den with an impressive wrap-around bar are among features of note,” writes The Los Angeles Times. “The 2,803-square-foot house has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a living room with a fireplace and a formal dining room. Picture windows and balconies take in panoramic views of the cityscape.”
The Times also notes that the property was last sold in 1986 for about $899,000.
Hudson, who died in 1985 at the age of 59, was one of the most famous actors of his time, appearing in almost 70 films in four decades and starring alongside actresses like Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor. According to Architectural Digest, he lived in the Hollywood home briefly, from 1975 to 1977.
