Extra seating is something that everyone needs. We need to have a few extra chairs around in case we get some guests or clients, or just for plain fun. The only problem is that chairs aren't that easy to store, even the ones that fold up. They take a lot of place and at some point, the cheaper ones become uncomfortable. This is a chair that completely rolls up, out of sight, when not in use.
Just after we've featured a portable office, including a flat folding chair and a cardboard desk that completely folds up as well, we have another really interesting piece of furniture for your apartment. A rollable chair. Apparently, this chair can roll up completely for easy storage, making it ideal for a number of different situations.
Uros Vitas calls his Miesrolo Chair the first dynamic cantilever chair. I'm no physics expert, but it just looks cool that he can roll it up and stash it away anytime he wants. It's really strange to see the designer sitting on this chair. To our brains, the chair shouldn't be able to support his weight. But it does. The Miesrolo Chair is constructed from wood and a synthetic elastomer frame, made as such that it can support the full weight of an adult.
Vitas introduced this chair in 2007. His newer version is more production friendly. I think that a chair like this is a great idea. You can store a few, and when guests come over or you need more seating, just roll them out to seat everyone. [via PicoCool]
